OMG awesome =) I'm taking this typealyzer hehe XD
and thx for the comments, I appreciate it =P
and you totally said, or rather implied, about the commerce thing...
but you know, with the financial crisis, are u SURE commerce is a good idea??? =P
anyway have fun! thaz the most important thing ^^
lol of course! ...the best time to do anything on any market is usually when every1 is running away from it - contrarians usually win XD
but seriously, i mean it. This crisis has made me want to go into ibanking even more...because the more fucked things are...the more immense the opportunities. think abt it: wud u rather be easily hired in boom period and get fired as soon as busts come along? or work your ass off to get a job in bust and get loaded when the job mkt recovers? :)
i'm having huge amts of fun! thx ^^
another good thing about the econ crisis is that it will weed out shit companies (so long as the gov isn't stupid enough to make them survive at all costs), so that the companies that can still afford to hire new talent are those that you'd actually /want/ to work for.
so true so true... but governments are stupid... hopefully they aren't THAT stupid -_-
btw, steven, is this your so called "longer post"? tsk.
of course not. wait for it, jeez.
Wow, I have a totally opposite view about the effect that the financial crisis have on careers in commerce, reason being that there are people who want to "make up" the money, or undergo "safe" investment. Others are risk-takers and dive deeper into the market, hoping that they would be able to take advantage of the fallen market. I would predict there would be an increased demand for such service.
Furthermore, there are no "shit" companies and your proposed "weeding" will kill the world... To mock your tone, the government was initially stupid enough to let Lehman brothers fall. The fact that it did fall created a domino effect that toppled companies into credit risk. The government ended up spending much more money. If they stopped spending the money, another deadlier domino effect might take into effect.
Hire new talents? Are there any left? What I am saying is there were people who "predicted" the subprime mortgage crisis and gained astronomical amounts as much as 800% of the initial investment. Where are these people? If you do a bit of research online, you will see that most have been very stressed about what they have done to the point where they decide they would not step into the financial world again (in fact, they have been someone pressure socially). You can call that a retirement, but one person wrote a long letter outlining the situation and it has been distributed online all over the place. I forgot who was this person who wrote it, but if you are interested, I can find it. Yes, it is a time where new stars come up, but many investors have been fooled. Now, are those the talents you want?

great post, william. however, i do have a small question: are u trying to disagree with me, or are you merely trying to counter everything lisa says?
Wow, was that supposed to be an offensive comment?
My comments addressed only things I found that I disagree with, which is spread throughout the comments, but only Lisa's comments have outrageous claims which exasperated me, along with the approval of others.
Your accusation is a general one that targets two parties and appears to be beyond this scope of the other comments. I will take that as a personal offense.
lol...oh william... no, i didn't realize how easily I could pique your rage by employing such harmless little implications. :) if only had I known earlier...haha.
allow me to explain...again, clearly some individuals love to overblow everything i say :) i read the first sentence thinking good, let's get opposing opinion here.
But the only remote argument I saw from you was the 2nd para - so what I gather from your arguments is that I shudn't go into finance because after Lehman fell, the financial world is going to be irrevocably collapsed and we'll all be fucked. Is it really worth my time to rebutt your proclamation if you didn't even put in the time to highlight what was Lehman's integral role in the financial markets?
and i read the rest of your comment and NONE of it countered what I said - the 1st para is full of mumbo jumbo in quotations and third paragraph was just completely superfluous - why would smart people leaving the financial world discourage me from going into the industry? So clearly the implication is that your just picking bones with everything Lisa writes. Fine, no big deal...it's like me and Mayur. But why get offended over people who are suggesting such?
To address your last comment:
"My comments addressed only things I found that I disagree with, which is spread throughout the comments..." - lol you've just defined borderline trolling?
" along with the approval of others." - that 'others' is Lillz just idly saying yes to continue the conversation. Why are you turning this into an 'approval'?
"Your accusation is a general one that targets two parties" - this is not the spanish inquisition and i'm not psychoanalysing you. relax. it's a simple implication i got from your ramble. i don't even know what second party you cud possibly refer to.
"appears to be beyond this scope of the other comments" - your analysis is spot on. so?
"I will take that as a personal offense." - you will need to get off your high horse once in a while.
cheers, gl on ur exams :)
I do not think you have read my comments clearly enough; I did not disagree with your main points.
My tone might sound a bit strict, but that is because I am relatively obsessed with writing in semi-formal language. Rest assured that the intensity of my words might not necessarily represent the accurate expression.
point taken. cheers
