Some interesting questions:

What do you consider more morally wrong?
Jaywalking vs. Downloading a song?
Sharing your neighbour's cable hookup vs. uploading a TV show with ads removed?
Smoking marijuanna vs. Downloading MS Office?
Sneaking into a movie theatre vs. buying a movie from the black market?
Stealing a $1.00 chocolate bar vs. Downloading a $65 video game?

The question I found the most iffy was the last two. What do you guys think?

personally anyways, stuff done behind a screen (i.e. d/l-ing illegally or what-have-you) tends to really give you that sense of anonymity so you don't really consider it morally wrong (on top of the fact that you may hate the guts of the RIAA, MPAA, or any other one of those retarded organizations).

As for the second last one, when buying off the black market, you can always exercise willful blindness to help justify what you just did (since in the end, you've still got a 'ticket'). Sneaking in - not so easy to do that.

so u mean to say that the ease of doing something contributes to it being less morally wrong?

I don't find that a very good foundation for our moral system...for example: vehicular manslaughter. from my experience with GTAIV, this is not a very hard offense to commit.

...and clearly willful blindness does not make the actual act more moral? what about the categorical imperatives? on the other hand, what about utilitarianism, where your black market purchase is helping finance other mafia operations such as drug trade, sex trade, racketeering, and money laundering?

my personal choices:
- downloading a song
- sharing your neighbour's cable
- downloading ms office
- buying a movie from black mkt
- downloading a $65 video game

which probably means i consider myself NOT very moral at all.

never said ease constitutes morality. Just saying that people tend not to have a problem doing things when they 'feel' it's being done anonymously (i.e. anything through a proxy server or other such mechanism to avoid detection of electronic activities). Obviously, all of the activities listed constitute some sort of moral breach on some level, but the question, I guess, is which one would make you look like a complete ass if you got caught. That's personally anyways; I don't speak for the 'foundation of our moral system'
